Italy-Jordan Diplomatic Relations Logo Design

Celebrating 75 Years of Italy-Jordan Diplomatic Relations

This visual identity is a tribute to the rich history, culture, and enduring partnership between Italy and Jordan. Designed to honor 75 years of collaboration, the proposed logo and supporting graphics aim to foster a sense of unity, respect, and friendship between these two nations.

A Symbol of Continuity and Cultural Harmony

The main pictogram represents the number ’75’, where the number ‘5’ is combined with the number ‘7’ to create a portion of the infinity symbol. This graphical play symbolizes the duration and continuity of relations between the two countries over 75 years. Inside the number ‘7’ is a red triangle, containing in its center the seven-pointed star from the Jordanian flag, highlighting the significance and respect for Jordanian culture and nation.

Design Objectives

The visual identity was created with these goals in mind:
Commemorate 75 Years: Celebrate this important diplomatic milestone with a design that is both timeless and meaningful.

Unite Two Cultures:

Blend Italian and Jordanian symbols to emphasize shared values of friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect.

Logo and Visual

The Colosseum is an iconic symbol of Rome, and by extension, of Italy. However, it also reflects the shared history that has connected Italy and Jordan over the years. Petra, with its ancient rock-cut architecture, embodies Jordan, while the wolf evokes the spirit of Rome. The camels, central to Jordan’s desert landscapes, further symbolize the country’s identity. Additionally, plant elements like date palms, which are native to Jordan, and olive trees, which are common to both Italy and Jordan, are incorporated to highlight the natural connections between the two nations. The merging of these elements – the Colosseum, Petra, the wolf, the camels, and the shared vegetation – along with the contrast of the desert and the Dolomites, creates a powerful visual narrative of unity, blending the rich histories, cultures, and landscapes of both nations into one cohesive image.
Imagine a captivating image where the skylines of Amman and Milan seamlessly blend together, symbolizing the connection between Jordan and Italy. On one side, the Amman skyline with its modern and ancient architectural features gradually transitions into the elegant and contemporary Milan skyline, representing Italy’s rich cultural heritage. In the middle, the Gulf of Aqaba on one side and the Mediterranean Sea on the other, their waters meeting in harmony, illustrating the geographic link between the two regions.
At the heart of the scene, the ancient and majestic Petra rises with its rock-cut architecture, showcasing Jordan’s heritage, while the Colosseum stands tall on the other side, symbolizing the timeless legacy of Rome. The scene is further enriched by date palms swaying on the Jordanian side, juxtaposed with the olive trees that bridge the two nations, representing the shared cultural and natural elements between Italy and Jordan.

The collage illustration depicts the rulers of Jordan in the following order:

Starting with the past, we see a photograph of King Talal of Jordan, positioned above the number 7. In the photo, King Talal is performing the gesture of saluting the flag, directed toward the number 7, which contains the Jordanian flag within it.
Next, the illustration features Talal’s son, King Hussein of Jordan, the father of the current ruler. Moving on to the present, represented by the number 5, we see the current King of Jordan, Abdullah II, shaking hands with the sitting President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
Finally, the future of the Hashemite dynasty is represented by Abdullah’s son, Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan, the future monarch, with the current Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni. I chose to include these two prominent figures of Italian politics, representing the two highest offices: the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister.
The photographic composition intertwines with the logo I created to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and Jordan. This choice emphasizes the concept behind the logo, where the younger generations – represented by Prince Hussein of Jordan and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni – give a sense of continuity and future.
